About Me

Bok Choy Studios is helmed by me, Hendrick “Henny” Xiong. I’m a 25 year-old queer Asian-American working artist and creator based in Hartford, Connecticut.

My work through Bok Choy Studios has many initiatives, including in-person events, No-One-Turned-Away-for-Lack-of-Funds/sliding-scale graphic design services, and my Zine for the Hart zine series.

I am actively expanding my personal portfolio of work. My portfolio is a medium by which I voice my experience with sociopolitical safety nets, substance abuse, memory, and queer desire.

I hope to round out my introduction by saying I have recently begun working in the specialty coffee industry after 6 years of food service experience. I’ll plug my cafe playlist here, too!

My work has appeared in the following Exhibitions / Publications:

We Will Not Be Erased” Exhibition at Hartford ArtSpace Gallery

Contributing Illustrator of Untitled

The State of Organizing in CT Zine CT Grapevine

Cover Artist

“Stories of Bravery, Healing, and Hope” Exhibition at West Hartford Art League

Contributing Illustrator of The Firework Mirror

“Styling Identities: Hair’s Tangled History” Zine at the Wadsworth Atheneum

Contributing Illustrator of  I Saw Things I Imagined
